60 years of legal aid was celebrated by Swain & Co solicitors with a sponsored run, cycle and walk event on Southampton Common. There were also fun 60’s events including sack and space hopper races.
Adrian Syms who is the Partner of Swain & Co in Southampton said “Legal aid helps thousands of clients in Southampton and Hampshire every year.
It is a vital legal safeguard and protects people’s rights to housing, education, medical treatment, family protection and much much more.”
Swain & Co is the largest legal aid supplier in this region and one of the largest legal aid organisations in the whole country.
Adrian said, “Legal aid has allowed us to change the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our community. It has helped prevent eviction, obtain proper schooling, to prevent domestic violence and to gain compensation often essential to someone rebuilding their life.”
Antony Evans, Relationship Manager for the Legal Services Commission said, “Legal aid provides people who can least afford it with access to justice and helps around 2 million people in England and Wales each year. I am delighted that Swain & Co have taken part in the celebrations to mark the 60th Anniversary of Legal Aid. Swain & Co are a committed team of Legal Aid lawyers. They are experts in a very wide range of legal services and provide a quality and dedicated service. “
The 60th anniversary celebrations raised money for MIND, the mental health charity.
