Family Lawyers in Chichester Art Shock
Swain & Co solicitors use of an image by the well known graffiti artist, Banksy, has ruffled a few feathers amongst the people in Chichester. The art work which is shown above shows a photograph of the outside of a building in Bristol which is decorated by the renowned graffiti artist known as Banksy. Some people have complained that the art work is “sexist”, according to Samantha Lee of Swain & Co solicitors, who used the image to help promote their family law service in the West Sussex area. Swain & Co won a National award to provide family law services in the West Sussex area. The Award covers divorce and family law including domestic violence and child care problems.
Samantha Lee, pictured above with the Banksy image, said that she was shocked by the reaction of one or two people to the Banksy mural. We are not saying that women committing adultery is the reason for the breakdown of marriages. Obviously both sexes commit adultery, behave badly and so on. The art work was simply intended to be a light hearted way of bringing the new service to the attention of the public. We apologise for any offence caused and certainly none was intended.
Based on the reaction of one or two people I wonder what the reaction would be to another Banksy image of the “kissing coppers. We see these images as artwork and interestingly Banksy images are available at Chichester’s renowned art gallery. What we wanted to do was draw attention to the new service on the basis that the Legal Services Commission has identified a need for more specialist family law advice in the West Sussex area. Sussex is one of the areas in the country where lawyers have deserted Legal Aid and where specialist advice can be hard to find. Obtaining the right advice at the right time can be crucial in relation to solving family matters.”
