Jess is a solicitor and has worked in the field of Social Welfare Law since 2001.

As a part of the Community Care and Mental health teams, Jess has very considerable experience in the Court of Protection work and has successfully represented individuals in welfare applications to the Court, concerning family members.

More recently, Jess has been instructed by Representatives and family members of individuals who have been Deprived of their Liberty (DOL) to challenge the lawfulness of the DOL in the High Court.

Jess also advises on the creation of Lasting Powers of Attorney and Deputyship Applications and challenges to the same.

Jess specialises in Mental Capacity work and has a particular interest in assisting family members challenging decisions by Local Authorities which they consider to be contrary to the relatives best interests.

Jess is an Associate Professional member of Solicitors for the Elderly and together with James Hurford, provides Community Care training for local charities, user groups and small business.

Outside of work Jess is heavily involved in a local theatre and dance school and enjoys performing at any opportunity.
