Areas of expertise

Rebecca Joyce is a member of the following staff departments:

I am a Trainee Solicitor specialising in criminal law.I represent many defendants in Crown Court trials for various types of offences and assist the Solicitors with preparing Magistrates Court trials.

I also have expertise in representing those convicted of criminal offences in appealing convictions and sentences, including miscarriage of justice cases. I take particular interest in preparing cases for consideration by the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC).

I have developed a particular expertise in dealing with sexual offences and can also represent defendants in relation to variations and appeals against Sexual Offences Prevention Orders (SOPOs).

I also have some experience in mental capacity law and have a keen interest in representing vulnerable adults in relation to a range of community care issues.

I am a member of Action For Prisoners Families and I am a keen advocate for prisoners rights.

In my spare time I can be found performing on stage for a local community theatre group, playing guitar and singing.

 

Cases of interest:

I have had numerous successes in relation to varying SOPOs, in particular allowing people to have contact with their children or to access the internet.

I am also currently representing a prisoner in relation to a Judicial Review against a decision of the CCRC not to refer his case back to the Court of Appeal.”
