Public Funding (formerly known as Legal Aid) is provided by the Government to assist with the cost of legal advice and representation.
It is not available for all types of case, personal injury cases being the most well known exception.
Not all legal firms are able to offer Public Funding to their clients. Firms of solicitors who do offer Public Funding have been assessed as suitable by the Legal Services Commission and awarded “Contracts” to provide the funding to their clients.
