An 87 year old grandmother inGosportwith hearing problems has been given an ASBO for playing her radio too loudly.
Neighbours of Georgina Sims say they have endured 13 months of relentless banging on walls with her walking stick and playing music loudly day and night.
Daughter to Georgina Sims, Bev Batten, has slammed the ASBO saying that her mother needed help not taking to court. Bev goes on to explain that her mother suffers with tinnitus and was genuinely hearing noises which led to her banging on the walls, and she was having a breakdown.
Clearly this is not a case of a vendetta against the neighbours; this elderly lady needed support and assistance. At Swain & Co. we have successfully opposed ASBO’s in cases like this. Criminalising vulnerable people is not the answer, Georgina Sims needs support.
