Solicitors Regulation Authority ‘institutionally racist’

A hard hitting report carried out by the Legal Services Board has accused the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) of being institutionally racist and abusing powers to the detriment of solicitors from ethnic minorities.

The Report goes on to accuse the SRA of offering impunity to many City firms have when breach of practice rules occurred, but in the case small Black and Asian minority ethnic firms, they had intervened disproportionately.

Specialist Discrimination and Civil Liberties lawyer Tom Battarbee, of Swain and Co. solicitors stresses that “Discrimination is unlawful, despicable and should not exist in regulation authorities. I welcome the report as it challenges discrimination, which is to ensure we have a fairer and more equal society.”

Based on this report, it has been suggested that the rates of disparity of treatment is far greater than those to have been found in police stop-and-search statistics.

Discrimination is wrong, in any form be it religion, race or sex. Swain & Co has expertise in a wide range of Discrimination Claims and legal aid is available for such claims.

We are also experts in relations to Human Rights and Civil Liberties.
