Job Information

Swain & Co Solicitors are currently seeking a highly talented and enthusiastic individual to join their Mental Health Law department based in the Havant and Southampton offices.

Assisting in both private and publicly-funded mattered related to Mental Health Law, including but not limited to:

  • Representing at first Tier Mental Health Tribunal;
  • Assisting clients with all matters concerning the Mental Health Act 1983;

The main responsibilities of the role will include but not limited to;

  • Legal casework in Mental Health Law;
  • Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases;
  • Dealing with correspondence;
  • Maintaining accurate time costing procedures;
  • Implementing any recommendations made by the supervisor following monthly file reviews ensuring that these are dealt with promptly.

This is a full-time role which offers excellent training and career prospects.

Experience and Attributes

  • The successful individual is likely to have:
  • Gained some experience in a Mental Health Law team;
  • A law degree or CILEx qualification
  • The ability to work unsupervised (after training),
  • Good self-motivational skills, and;
  • Be reliable
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications.
