National road victim month – August 2018
National Road Victim Month is the time to remember those killed or seriously injured on the road
The 1 August 2018 marks the beginning of National Road Victim Month, a time to remember those who have been killed, hurt, or seriously injured in road traffic accidents on Britain’s roads.
In 2017, there were more than 175,000 road traffic accidents in the UK and every day, five people die on UK roads, according to the charity, RoadPeace. RoadPeace is the national charity for Road Crash Victims which focuses on the devastating and lifelong impact for the victims of road crashes.
RoadPeace aims to reduce road danger and make streets safer by tackling bad driving, and ensuring appropriate police prosecutions and sentencing. RoadPeace are currently campaigning for thorough police collision investigations following road crashes to reduce the chances that criminal culpability can be escaped by the drivers who are responsible for crashes; and also to ensure fair compensation for road victims and improve public confidence.
