Child Maintenance

Every parent is required to financially support their child regardless of if they live with them or not or if they don’t see them regularly.
Often it is less expensive and less stressful if parents can agree the maintenance that should be paid towards looking after children after divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership.
However, if you cannot make agreements yourselves, Swain & Co Solicitors can help you with negotiations or family mediation.
If you still cannot agree, in specific cases you can apply to the court for a maintenance order.
This can be made as part of any other proceedings that may be going through the court, such as your divorce or dissolution of your civil partnership.
We can help you reach an amicable agreement through our family mediation service, or if that cannot be done, where appropriate we can help you to apply for a court order to resolve any disputes regarding child maintenance.
