Mental Health

We have membership of the Law Society’s Mental Health Panel which means that our solicitors who have membership have and will maintain a high level of knowledge, skills, experience and practice in the area of Mental Health Law.
Our Mental Health Lawyers all follow the Law Society Code of Practice for Mental Health. Coupled with the fact that Swain & Co Solicitors have Lexcel standard, it means our clients are getting levels of expertise and customer service that are consistently high.
Our expertise is also recognised by the Community Legal Service.
Free legal aid is widely available for advice and representation at Mental Health Review Tribunals.
We attend Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers’ Hearings providing assistance and representation.
“Our team fight for the protection of your rights. We challenge the lawfulness of continuing detention and advise on High Court and Human Rights issues. We assist and advise on treatment, aftercare issues and community care.”
The relative of someone detained may be eligible for legal aid.
Advice can be given immediately over the telephone and appointments arranged at short notice, including at hospitals.
Take a look at our videos filmed during 'Time to Talk' day. Here our colleagues are spending another workday time by reflecting on issues in relation to Mental Health and Discrimination.
