Emily graduated from the University of Southampton in 2009 with a 2:1 LLB in Law, and went onto study the Bar Vocational Course in London and was called to the Bar in 2011.
Before joining Swain & Co Solicitors, Emily worked at another local firm for 9 years as a Para-legal and then (following completion of her work-based learning portfolio and exams) as a Chartered Legal Executive. This gave her vast experience in family law matters, whilst also studying her LPC part-time at The College of Law in Guildford.
She completed the LPC and qualified as a Solicitor in 2017.
Emily deals with many aspects of family law with an emphasis on public law matters from child protection planning and PLO, to Care Proceedings, and has experience in working on a number of complex care cases involving non-accidental injury, mental health issues, sexual abuse and working with parents with learning difficulties.
Emily also advises parents and other family members in relation to private law children matters and SGO’s and has a pragmatic, sensitive and empathetic approach to the difficult issues that arise.
She is soon going to be completing her application and training to become a member of the Children Panel to enable her to act for Children in Care Proceedings.
Outside of work Emily enjoys travelling, kickboxing, running and baking.
