“I enjoy working on housing cases because I am able to help often vulnerable people keep a roof over their heads.”
Paul McManus is a solicitor in our housing law team, joining us in 2018.
Paul is a welcomed addition to the dedicated housing law team as he shares one of our core beliefs here at Swain & Co Solicitors:
“I think people having access to good quality legal advice and representation is vital.”
Following his study for a law degree at University of Westminster, Paul completed his Legal Practice Course at University of Law in Guildford.
Paul always thought that the criminal law would be the one to entice him. However, he was surprised to find that it was in fact property and housing law that he enjoyed the most.
“Property law is a fundamental part of the English legal system and affects people in many ways throughout their lives.”
Before becoming a solicitor Paul worked as a journalist in local and regional newspapers. He had a variety of roles during his journalism career, including news reporter, news editor, sports editor and sub editor.
“As a news reporter I covered some high profile murder cases. And, while working as a sports editor I interviewed a wide range of people from local club members to Olympic gold medalists. In their work journalists need to know about some areas of law and this sparked my interest in legal work that has continued,” explains Paul.
So, what lead Paul to make the great choice to join Swain & Co Solicitors’ housing law team?
“I chose Swain & Co because I had worked previously with Kate Pasfield, the firm’s former Head of Housing. Kate told me that it is a good place to work, with accomplished lawyers and staff. I was interviewed for my role at Swain & Co by Adrian Syms, who impressed me with his commitment to helping individuals who might otherwise not have legal representation.”
In his spare time Paul enjoys running and keeping fit. He also enjoys reading, the cinema and spending time with family and friends.
